Worried about your skin during the summer months? Here are 10 tips…

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the beaches. But, it leads to sun tan, dryness, and so on. However, you can combat these problems by following some basic skin care tips.

I have already covered my favorite 10 tips for summer hair care. Hopefully, they’ve helped you to have beautiful hair during the summer months. Here are my best 10 skin care tips for summer.

  1. Exfoliation is the basic step in every skin care regime. It removes the dead and dull skin. Do you know that makeup lasts much longer if your skin is exfoliated? So, use a mild exfoliator every day.
  2. Slather sunscreen all over, especially on the exposed parts. When you’re going to a beach, sunscreen has to be your best friend. Always remember to apply sunscreen 20 minutes before exposing yourself to the sun so that it’s nicely absorbed into the skin. Buy a sunscreen that offers protection from both UVA and UVB rays and reapply whenever you feel; only using a higher SPF (Sun Protection Factor) sunscreen is not enough.
  3. Stay hydrated. Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily. It helps to detoxify your body. However, if you’re drinking caffeinated beverages, then you should drink triple the amount of water.
  4. Keep your skin hydrated. Along with drinking water, apply intensive masques 1-2 times per week. Also, keep a revitalizing toner with you. Use it whenever you feel your skin is dehydrated, or you need to freshen up. I love spraying this on my skin when I’m outside during summer.
  5. Protect your pouts. Whatever color you purchase, make sure your lipstick has at least SPF 15. Try to use lip balms instead of lip gloss as the former tends to hydrate more.
  6. Switch to self-tanners instead of lying under the sun. This will build the color gradually, and it is a safer alternative.
  7. Take a shower in cold water. Taking a hot shower after sun exposure will further dry your skin. Taking a shower in cold water will clear the pores and reduce acne breakouts.
  8. Wear a full protection hat. This type of hat can protect your face from the sun coming from any angle.
  9. Consume vitamin C and E daily. I was also astonished to know for the first time that consuming food rich in vitamin C and E can help reduce sunburn. So, consume salad with berries, tomato, citrus fruits, nuts, etc.
  10. Finally, sip some red wine. I know, white wine is quite refreshing during the summer months, but red wine has healing properties. Resveratrol is present in red wine which can decrease the redness caused by sunburn. Red wine also has an antioxidant effect, which is good for skin.

  3. During summers, you should cover your head with a scarf before going outdoors. It’ll protect your hair from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
  4. Keep your hair loose. Tie up your hair in a messy braid or a loose bun. Tight hairstyles can result in hair fall, especially if it’s dry because of the summer heat.
  5. Use cucumber in your scalp to get a cooling effect. Or, use fruity hair packs for that natural shine on your hair. It’ll also prevent your hair from sweating.
  6. Want to get a beautiful and healthy hair? If so, then trim your hair twice during summer. It’ll help you to get rid of dry and split ends.
  7. If you’re having too much hair fall during summers, use egg white as a pack for your hair. It prevents hair fall and improves hair growth.
  8. Want to get rid of dull hair? Yes? A beer wash will bring back the shine on your hair.
  9. A healthy diet is a must for healthy hair. You must eat omega-3 fatty acids rich foods like salmon, spinach, and omega-3-rich eggs to keep your hair strong, healthy, and shiny.
  10. Most importantly, try to avoid using any kind of chemical hair sprays, hair colors, hair dryers, and hair straighteners. These will make your hair more dry and frizzy.
